Empowering culturally diverse communities through inclusive education, fair employment and cultural respect.

    Multicultural Plan 2025-2028

The plan was developed using a human-centred approach. Its aims to give everyone, regardless of ability or background, access to opportunities. These opportunities support success in an inclusive and culturally safe environment.

    1. Active leadership

Leaders at all levels work actively to create a workplace where all cultures feel welcome, respected and valued.

    2. Effective engagement and communication

We collaborate to bring fresh ideas and experiences. We include culturally and linguistically diverse people in policymaking, programs and services.

    3. Tailored planning

Our policies and processes reflect the needs of multicultural students and staff.

    4. Accessible services

We design inclusive programs and services to remove barriers to education, training and support.

    Our commitment

We prioritise the voices of people from multicultural backgrounds in decisions that affect them. We commit to providing what everyone needs to participate and respect diverse traditions, perspectives and identities.

The Multicultural Plan 2025-2028 meets our government agency’s requirements to implement and report against a multicultural plan.

    Impacts and outcomes

    The overall goal is to:

    • break down barriers to participation
    • improve access to services and programs
    • support multicultural equity in NSW public education.

The impact we aim for through this plan:

    • Students, employees and community members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds feel safe, valued and respected at TAFE NSW.
    • Students from these backgrounds reach their education and employment goals at TAFE NSW.
    • TAFE NSW employees from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds receive support to grow professionally at all levels.

    Outcomes include:

    • Employees and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds report better wellbeing and greater participation.
    • We see an increase in the proportion of employees and students from these backgrounds.
    • Retention of staff and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds matches or exceeds overall TAFE NSW rates.
