If you love knowing why things work the way they do and how to fix them, then an exciting career in engineering is perfect for you. Become a specialised engineering tradesperson in either boiler making, sheet metal, welding, CNC programming or fluid power.

Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Employment as a tradesperson with access to structured on and off-the-job training or an apprenticeship under an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. It is assumed that you will have one of these in order to do this course.
A trade qualification in engineering or mechanical engineering or equivalent industry experience
An intermediate fitness level to manage the physical demands of the role
The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces if required
The ability to work early morning, late evening, or weekend hours if required
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

Units
Units taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Engineering qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 132 weighting points, including 33 core and 99 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
