Global industry demand
As the horticultural industry matures, businesses are starting to specialise in products and services as a way of differentiating themselves from the competition; for example, water and soil experts offering specialised advice on landscaping can now provide a key point of difference for a business.
As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, residential landscape design is likely to increase the focus on the health and wellness aspects of design. There is also expected to be a shift from aesthetic design to functional design where medicinal gardens, herbal and vegetable gardens will be in greater demand.
With the increase in urbanisation and industrialisation across Asia, many of the region’s top firms are now conceiving striking landscape designs for residential properties in addition to the public and hospitality sectors.

Additional costs
Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 - $1,000 AUD per course.
Structure and units
What you will study
At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 12 units of competency 6 core units plus 6 elective units. 3 must be from the electives listed below 3 from the remaining electives listed below or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
